Synopsis of *Anastasia*:

In 1917, the Russian Revolution broke out, and the Tsar and his family were arrested and executed. However, rumors circulated that the Tsar's youngest daughter—the most noble Princess Anastasia (Ingrid Bergman)—was still alive. Princess Anastasia was the sole heir to the dynasty's enormous ten million dollars in a British bank account. In 1928, Russian General Bonin (Yul Brynner), at the request of the exiled Empress Dowager of Russia (Helen Hayes), began searching for the princess. After numerous setbacks and still no success in finding the princess, a mentally unstable woman (Ingrid Bergman) is discovered by Bonin in a mental hospital. She bears a striking resemblance to Princess Anna. Under Bonin's personally supervised and ruthless training, she undergoes a transformation from Cinderella to a noblewoman. However, the Queen Mother, exiled in Denmark, remains unmoved and refuses to believe she is the real princess, no matter how hard she tries.
