We entitled this book Regression Analysis for Research because it is intended to help readers analyze research data using regression analysis. This book not only explains how to use existing formulas precisely, but also presents important concepts in regression analysis that readers can understand without having to have in-depth mathematical knowledge. In this way, it is hoped that readers can conclude and interpret data analysis results correctly. To make it easier to understand this book, examples of data analysis calculations are presented, both manually and using SPSS software.

This book also discusses regression analysis in matrix notation which has many benefits accompanied by examples whose calculations can be done very easily using Microsoft Excel software. In this book we will learn the probabilistic model called the regression model. The simplest regression model is the simple linear regression model. The simple linear regression model is a proprietary model that states the linear relationship between two variables where one of the variables is considered to influence other variables. The influential variables are called independent variables and affected variables are called dependent variables. For example, a researcher may be interested in investigateing the linear influence (lation) of the intelligence quotes (IQ) on the results of learning student statistics. Here IQ is an independent variable, while the results of learning statistics are dependent variables.

There are still many examples that can be modeled with simple linear regression, for example the relationship between employee motivation and performance, the relationship between age and human height, the relationship between income and household expenses, and so on. This book will be very useful for S1, S2 and S3 students from various scientific backgrounds in analyzing research results data in the context of writing theses, theses or dissertations.
