Seiko Street Style With the New 5 Sports SKX Series Camo-Dials

Now, Seiko is releasing something slightly different and deeply inspired by street culture and skateboarding, in line with the main audience behind these watches – a younger generation than Prospex models, which are more focused on already knowledgeable watch enthusiasts. As such, Seiko here collaborates with a talented and world-leading skateboarder, Yuto Horigome. Born in 1999 in Tokyo, he started skateboarding at the age of six. After a successful early career, Horigome won the World Championship for the first time in 2021.

With such an influence in mind, the Seiko 5 Sports SKX Street Style Yuto Horigome Limited Edition SRPJ39 is, without surprise, designed with camouflage pattern on its dial and black coating on its case – a classic theme of streetwear. Based on the SKX Series, with diving design elements and a rotating bezel, the SRPJ39 measures 42.5mm in diameter and has a steel case with a black hard coating. The crystal is Hardlex, the water-resistance is 100m and the strap of this version is a black silicone band.

Under a specific see-through caseback, decorated with Yuto Horigome’s signature and the serial number, is the automatic calibre 4R36 with 24 jewels, 41h power reserve, 3Hz frequency and hand-wound and stop-seconds features. This movement also displays the day and date. The main specificity of this edition is the dial, with a textured camouflage pattern here executed in various tones of black and grey. All hands and markers have a generous amount of LumiBrite. This Seiko 5 Sports SKX Street Style Yuto Horigome Limited Edition SRPJ39 will be produced in 6,000 pieces.

In addition to this limited edition model, the Japanese brand also releases a non-limited version with a similar style, yet in a different colour. The dial, which again has a camouflage pattern, here has no texture and is showing various tones of military green. This Seiko 5 Sports SKX Street Style SRPJ37 shares the same case with black coating, the same black-coloured aluminium bezel and is worn on a black textile NATO-like strap.
